Video in the classroom

Recently I came upon this post about how to use video in the classroom.  If you have always thought that it is too difficult and complicated and you need particularly special equipment – think again!

This fabulous post by contributor Ron Peck highlighting the work done by Ron, Becky Ellis and Greg Kulowiec at the 2011 NCSS Conference shows 3 great classroom tools for video.

I think by far my favourite is the choose your own adventure!  So much simpler than it sounds, and I love the way the students have used it to tell a researched piece but allow the watcher to select their path – the boys in Video 2 had a bit of fun with it which was great to see because they were talking about the stages of a revolution but in a way that made it interesting and engaging.

Have fun with video – you don’t need to be worried about complicated technology or equipment – most mobile phones have video cameras in them that can be used if you don’t have school resources.
