Day 2 was one of those days for me that was not pages of ideas and scrawled notes like yesterday, but more nuggets of inspiration. Pockets of thoughts amongst the noise.
Might have been my lack of sleep due to the heat or the fact that I had to get up super early this morning. But I’m a lot more thoughtful today than excitedly inspired. Or is it the nootropics in the cold brew startup Kykeon?
I started with a talk from Andy Powers, CEO of Clique on “The Meeting of the Future – How Voice Experience will Change the Global Enterprise Landscape”. Andy’s why story was fascinating and gave incredible context to his driver of making the best use of his time which lead to the development of meeting tools by Clique. I was reminded of an Anthony Robbins quote
“time is all we have, and time is running out“
but not in a morbid way, a reflective make it count way.
Next, my mind was awash with possibility as the team at Codebots introduced a SaaS that is coincidentally exactly what I need. Talk about serendipity. Eban Escott ‘s talk “How Humans and Bots Can Work Together to Get Shit Done” was enlightening. I passed Eban in the startup space later and had an opportunity to express how much I enjoyed his talk. I love that about Pause! Can’t wait to get my account and start playing.
I managed to secure a seat at the Growth Hacker Workshop run by Tom Uhlhorn of Tiny CX. It was great to get some of the back to basics reminders for some of us who have been in the trenches since before tech was a thing. The problem with growing and adapting to a changing landscape of new tech and processes is that you can lose sight of some of the basics. Looking forward to spending time exploring some of those in-depth slides.
Amanther Imber from Inventium never disappoints and her presentation on “How to Get Meaningful Things Done” was insightful, and a good reminder of what is going to move things forward.
Put maker time first…before anything else.
A star struck highlight was meeting sisters Jess and Stef from Twoobs. Their talk on the development of their brand and the perils and rewards of designing and creating their line of shoes was great. My daughter and I are big fans and I felt compelled to ask them for an autograph – being way too intimidated to ask for a selfie with them! They sweetly obliged, must have thought I was a bit strange though as it is quite an old-school request that such modern mavens would seldom get I’m sure! This was quickly followed by another interview. This time with business dynamo Greta Van Riel founder of many successful ventures and Instagram service connecting business and influencers Hey Influencers. I was impressed with the breadth of her endeavours and her ability to reframe her business experiences to derive the best possible outcome while leapfrogging happily to a new concept once the old had achieved its goals.
My day ended with the debate Bitcoin is a Fraud. Entertaining, informative. But not mind changing. I stick to my original vote of no fraud. I’m enjoying the free fruit, water stations and was excited for the launch of Kykeon enhanced cold brew. Looking forward to adding this to my daily routine. So I drag my tired brain to bed and prepare for the final day of Pause 2018.
