Many years ago when I worked for an art supply company I used to sit back in the office and await the wonderful treasures that they would bring back for us to sample from the trade fair in Frankfurt each February.
I made a promise to myself, being as enamoured with art supplies as I am, that one day I too would attend this trade fair.
In 2017 I made that dream come true. Oh my goodness. I can’t even begin to describe the feeling of collecting my badge holder in the special lanyard printed with “PAPERWORLD” and “CREATEWORLD”, of course, I had to take a few extras as souvenirs.
Entering those halls and wandering around looking at all the fantastic products, new developments and some of my old favourites. Every one of my friends I told of my impending adventure could see the excitement on my face – but was also slightly glazed over “Oh, sounds great!” was the usual response. Yes indeed, it was great, and more. It was a dream come true, and a promise kept.
I have lots of thoughts bubbling around as to what to do with my new international artsy contacts. But for now, I bask in the joy of having been part of it all.
